Houserules

General Rules

• All instructions given by hotel employees in relation to the house rules must be followed. Any complaints may be reported to the hotel management.
• Remain calm in the event of a fire. Report the fire to reception and/or activate the nearest fire alarm.
• If the general fire alarm sounds, leave the building immediately.
• Never use the lifts in the event of a fire.
• A valid form of identification must be presented upon check-in. Guests must be at least 18 years old to check in. Both guests must be aged 18 or over.
• CCTV cameras are installed in various areas throughout the hotel. Anyone entering or staying at our hotel consents to being recorded. In the event of an emergency and/or incident, these recordings may be shared with third parties as supporting evidence.
• Any lost property found must be handed in at reception.
• Hotel Houten is not responsible for the loss or theft of your belongings.
• The management, the owner of the premises and/or persons working for the hotel cannot be held liable for any injury and/or material or immaterial damage suffered by visitors to the premises.
• Removing hotel property from the building is prohibited. Anyone who deliberately damages Hotel Houten property may be held liable for the cost of repair and/or replacement.
• The use of confetti and confetti cannons in hotel rooms is prohibited. If confetti is found, cleaning charges will apply.
• Possessing, consuming, using or dealing illegal drugs is prohibited.
• Causing a nuisance to others, including through loud music, inappropriate behaviour or noise of any kind, is prohibited.
• In all situations not covered by these regulations, the management of Van der Valk Hotel Houten will make the final decision.

Additional Suite Regulations

• Our general house rules and zero-tolerance policy also apply during your stay in a suite at Hotel Houten.

• A maximum of two people may stay in the suite.
• Unregistered visitors or other hotel guests are not permitted in the suite. If other guests are found in the suite, you may be asked to leave the hotel immediately.
• Check-out for suites is no later than noon. The suite will be inspected after check-out.
• Before issuing the room key, we require a deposit of €150, payable in cash, by debit card or by credit card pre-authorisation.
• Any damage will be deducted from the deposit. In the event of more extensive damage, we will issue an invoice. The deposit will be refunded after the suite has been inspected.
• The deposit will only be refunded to the guest who presented identification upon check-in.
• Smoking and the possession or use of illegal drugs and nitrous oxide canisters are prohibited. In the event of a violation, the hotel may impose a fine of up to €250 and require you to leave the hotel immediately.
• Failure to comply with the above house rules, or any damage to, loss of or destruction of Hotel Houten property, will result in immediate removal from the hotel without prior warning. You may also be held liable and/or reported to the police. No refund will be issued, and your deposit will be retained.

The following are prohibited

• Removing hotel property from the building. Anyone who deliberately damages hotel property may be held liable for the cost of repair and/or replacement.
• Possessing, consuming, using or dealing illegal drugs.
• Possessing or using whipped-cream chargers or nitrous oxide in or around the hotel, as required by the fire service. Anyone found possessing or using these items will be removed from the hotel immediately, without a refund.
• Causing a nuisance to others, including through loud music, inappropriate behaviour or noise of any kind.
• Smoking in the room. If we find that smoking has taken place in the room, a cleaning charge of €175 will apply. This fine also applies if a smoke detector is covered or disabled. If smoking in the room activates the fire alarm, the fire service call-out fee of €275 will be charged to you.
• Lighting candles or tealights in hotel rooms and suites.
• Allowing more people to stay in the room than the number included in the reservation. All registered guests must present identification at reception.
• Booking a room in your name without staying in the room yourself.
• Using emergency exits when there is no emergency.
• Possessing or carrying weapons anywhere within the hotel. If weapons are found, the police and judicial authorities will be notified.
• Bringing pets into the room, with the exception of assistance animals.
• Only the person who made the reservation may check in for a room or suite. If someone else checks in on your behalf, written authorisation must be provided.

Zero-Tolerance Policy

• The following are prohibited:

• Allowing more people in the room than the number included in the reservation. All registered guests must present identification at reception.
• Smoking in the room. If we find that smoking has taken place in the room, a cleaning charge of €175 will apply. This fine also applies if a smoke detector is covered or disabled. If smoking in the room activates the fire alarm, the fire service call-out fee of €275 will be charged to you.
• Lighting candles or tealights in the room.
• Removing hotel property from the building. Anyone who deliberately damages Van der Valk Hotel Houten property will be held liable for the cost of repair or replacement.
• Causing a nuisance in or around the hotel through loud music, inappropriate behaviour and/or noise of any kind.
• Consuming, using and/or dealing illegal drugs.
• Possessing, consuming, using or dealing nitrous oxide and/or whipped-cream chargers.
• Booking a room in your name without staying in the room yourself.
• Using emergency exits when there is no emergency.
• We operate a zero-tolerance policy. This means that failure to comply with these house rules will result in your immediate removal from the hotel without prior warning. No refund will be issued, and any deposit paid will be retained.
• If you are removed from the hotel, we accept no responsibility for the consequences.
