House Rules and Code of Conduct

  • Sign up

    All guests must check in at the front desk with a valid form of identification at the start of their stay or when visiting a room.

  • Emergency exits

    It is prohibited to use emergency exits as regular entrances and exits.

  • Clothing

    The Van der Valk Hotel Houten has a dress code; if you do not comply with these requirements, you may be denied entry.

  • Cameras

    Our hotel is equipped with video cameras. By visiting us, you consent to being recorded. In the event of disturbances or accidents, the recordings may be shown to third parties.

  • Smoking

    The entire hotel is non-smoking. Smoking is permitted on the outdoor terraces, provided you keep the door closed. The use of e-cigarettes (or similar cigarette alternatives) is not permitted inside the hotel. Smoking in a hotel room will result in a €175 cleaning fee. If the fire alarm is triggered by smoking in the room, you will be automatically removed from the hotel.

  • Safety features

    Damaging or misusing our fire safety or security equipment will automatically result in removal from the hotel. No refund will be given for the room rate or any deposit paid.

  • Narcotic and hallucinogenic substances

    You are not permitted to use soft or hard drugs in the hotel. You are also not permitted to bring them onto the premises or into the hotel. This includes the use of whipped cream and nitrous oxide cartridges.

  • Weapons

    You are not permitted to carry weapons, bring them onto the premises, or possess them within our facilities.

  • Disruptive, offensive, and aggressive behavior

    Anyone who behaves in a disruptive or offensive manner inside or outside the establishment will be denied entry. In the event of threats, physical assault, or other forms of aggression, a police report will be filed at all times.

  • Alcoholic beverages and cigarettes

    If, in our opinion, you have had too much to drink, we may refuse to serve you any more alcoholic beverages. We do not serve alcoholic beverages to guests under the age of 18.

  • Toilet use

    Restroom facilities are intended solely for guests and visitors to our facilities. Use for any other purpose is not permitted.

  • Trade in goods

    It is prohibited to sell goods in or around the hotel.

  • Hospitality properties

    You may not remove any property belonging to Hotel Houten from the premises. If any damage is caused within the hotel, you will be liable for the costs of repairing or replacing the item.

  • Loss, damage, injury

    Van der Valk Hotel Houten is not liable for loss of or damage to guests’ personal property. The hotel is also not liable in the event of personal injury.

  • Lost and Found

    If you find an item in the hotel that appears to belong to someone else, please turn it in at the front desk. Lost and found items are kept for 12 months. Anyone claiming a lost item must provide valid identification.

  • Klachten

    Do you have any complaints, of any kind? Please report them immediately to the front desk. We are available 24 hours a day and are happy to assist you.

  • Consumpties

    Consuming food or drinks that you have brought with you is not permitted. Use of our facilities without purchasing food or drinks is also not permitted.

  • Accommodation

    We kindly ask that you be considerate of our other guests throughout your stay at the hotel and refrain from making noise or causing a disturbance.

  • Minors and overnight stays

    A valid form of identification must be presented at check-in. Check-in is available to guests aged 18 and older. Both guests must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Emergency or nuisance

    In case of an emergency or disturbance, you must always call EXTENSION 9 from your room! In the event of an emergency, you must follow the staff’s directions and instructions for safety reasons.

  • Harassment, racism, and discrimination

    You must not engage in sexual harassment, racism, discrimination, or inappropriate behavior.

  • Pets

    Pets are not allowed in the hotel. If a pet is found in the room, a cleaning fee of €75 will be charged.

  • A good night's sleep

    After 11:00 PM, guests are asked to keep the hallways and rooms quiet. Visitors are not permitted in guest rooms after 10:00 PM. There is a maximum number of guests allowed in all rooms and suites.

  • Violations of the rules and their consequences

    Violation of any of the above rules may result in your removal from our hotel or facilities. This will result in the forfeiture of your deposit and room charges.
